The construction of a classroom pavilion at the F. X. Šalda grammar school in Liberec has been given the green light

After signing the contract with the company SYNER, which the Liberec Region selected in March of this year, after a positive opinion on obtaining a European subsidy and a change to the spatial plan of Liberec, nothing is preventing the construction of a classroom pavilion at the F. X. Šalda Gymnasium in Liberec.

According to the contract signed by the region with Syner on October 10 this year, the total costs are 211,080,710.30 crowns including VAT (excluding equipment). Construction should begin in the fall of next year and students could look forward to the new premises at the end of 2026. "Thanks to the new pavilion, it will be possible to open an additional class in each year of the four-year grammar school. There is currently an increased demand for general education and the current capacities of schools, especially in Liberec, are now insufficient. This project will help alleviate the excess demand," said Governor Martin Půta.

The project includes the construction of the gymnasium pavilion itself, demolition and construction of a connecting neck, the creation of roads and paved areas, relocation of utility networks, landscaping, minor architecture and playground improvements. In line with modern trends, it will be an undemanding, energy-efficient building with a south wall richly glazed to take advantage of good sunlight. There will also be a heat pump, green roof and photovoltaic panels. During construction, the region intends to apply the design and build supplier regime, which has proven itself in the past, for example, in transport construction. "The design and build supplier system has helped us save considerable financial sums," confirmed Zbyněk Miklík, Deputy Governor. "In practice, this means that the construction company will respond flexibly and quickly to any changes in the tender requirements." "A decision has already been issued to provide a subsidy for the project. We expect it to amount to 109,114,651 crowns," added Jiří Ulvr, regional councilor for the department of economic and regional development, European projects, spatial planning and rural development.
