Construction of a school has started
This April became a significant milestone for the city of Český Brod, its almost seven and a half thousand inhabitants, and especially for the children there and from the surrounding villages. In the close vicinity of the existing elementary school, the foundation stone of the Český Brod part of the new school was ceremonially laid. It will be built in two locations – in Český Brod on the premises of the Žitomířská Elementary School and in Doubravčice. This event launched the implementation of the largest project in the modern history of the city. Its aim is to strengthen the capacities of elementary education in the region and ensure a modern and high-quality environment for future generations of students.
The project responds to the long-term need to increase places for schoolchildren throughout the region. The new school will bring a total capacity of 810 pupils in 27 modernly equipped classrooms (13 in Český Brod and 14 in Doubravčice). In Český Brod, the existing primary school will be expanded with a new pavilion with a sports hall and a connecting neck, which will offer space for school events. The ceremony was attended by the mayors and deputy mayors of both member municipalities - Tomáš Klinecký, Jaroslav Prkno, Markéta Havlíčková, Milan Majer and Kristýna Holubová, the councilor of the Central Bohemian Region for education Milan Vácha, the chairman of the Voluntary Association of Municipalities Jakub Nekolný, the principal of the Žitomířská Primary School Jiří Slavík, representatives of the construction company SYNER, citizens of both member municipalities, teachers, pupils and other important guests.
"Today is a historical milestone for Český Brod and Doubravčice. The ceremonial tapping of the foundation stone is tangible proof of our joint efforts to ensure quality education for our children. I believe that the new school will become a modern and inspiring place for the teaching and development of our students," said Tomáš Klinecký, Mayor of Český Brod.
Miroslav Kot, sales director of the civil engineering company SYNER, said: "Our company has been in the construction industry for over 30 years and we know very well how demanding and lengthy the entire process is, from project preparation, securing financing to selecting a contractor. It has been more than a year and a half since we submitted the bid for the implementation of this project and I am glad that now our time has come. We have assembled a professional team whose members have extensive experience in the construction of school buildings. I look forward to seeing everyone here at the end of next year and the new building behind us."
The project of the entire school complex has received financial support from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports under the Prstenec II program in the amount of CZK 757 million and is co-financed by the municipalities. The construction will take place in the coming months and it is expected that the first students could use the new school at the turn of 2026 and 2027.
